Tips to Organise Toy-Filled Playrooms

Toys are an essential part of growing up. This is especially true for younger children; who are learning to take their first steps and are absorbing the world around them. For families lucky enough to have a playroom filled with toys; this is a fun way to educate your kids before they reach school age. There are some playrooms that are better than others, however, and it’s all down to how they are organised. Get this playroom set-up right, and it could be even more beneficial to your kids than you think.

Get the basics right

If you are hoping to start your playroom from scratch, you need to get the basics nailed before you can fill it with toys and activities. At the heart of every playroom is a comfortable couch- one that can be chopped and change to fit around a range of activities.  It can be hard to find a soft couch for parents and baby, but the perfect choice can act as the perfect base for the room.

Around this couch, you can begin adding features like a playpen, creative space, and other, comfortable furnishings. From plush blankets to soft toys. It should be as much a place to relax together as it is a place to play and learn.

Be clever with storage

Storage has come a long way in the last few years. We are now seeing more creative ways of storing toys that don’t affect the aesthetic of a room. For example, footstools which also double as storage boxes, and couch cushions which lift up to reveal storage space inside.

Using items like these will not only free up more space for play and activities. They can also be ideal for families who can’t afford a separate playroom. By day, your living space can transform into a play paradise. For time evening, the toys will be neatly packed away.

If you’d like to add your own spin to storage or are simply looking for more ways to save money. Check out ways to create your own clever storage solutions using items you may already own.

Keep it clutter-free

Ever seen a playroom where you can’t tell the clutter from the toys? When you live in a busy family household, it can be easy to let clutter build up. The thing is that clutter can have detrimental effects on your child’s learning. It can also present more danger in the room, which younger kids won’t yet know how to avoid.

To help you banish clutter from your playroom with ease, it’s best to do a quick sweep every night. This will only take a few minutes and will ensure there are no nasty surprises in the morning. Tidy toys away into your new storage solutions and make sure all surfaces are free from germs. Using kid-friendly, non-toxic cleaning products.

Don’t forget the tech

Another innovative way to reduce clutter in your playroom is to make the switch from physical toys to digital. Having physical toys is important for any child. However, as the world moves to a more digital place, it’s also wise to start your child with a tablet or laptop.

There are plenty of toddler-friendly games and videos which you can download and store safely on more than one device. They range from puzzle-solvers to short, educational videos and apps. They provide ample amounts of bonding time for you and your child. Depending on how old your child is, some games can also teach them how to code! Just make sure to get a protective case for your tablet.

Make room for creativity

Long gone are the days where kids learn only from textbooks. Toys are now an integral part of how kids begin to navigate the world we live in and learn skills for life. While many of your toys may have an educational element to them, it’s also key to encourage creativity from an early age. Doing so will make your children more empathetic and open-minded- both important skills in today’s world. It also helps with other key areas of your child’s development.

For this reason, it’s a great idea to reserve a section of the playroom for creativity. Bringing art supplies will allow your child to unleash their creativity. It will also keep them occupied for a while! Even though Paint can cause a mess it’s easily avoidable if you lay down some scrap paper before you begin. You can also use old fabrics for arm knitting. Try some poetry using a simple pen and paper or have a dress-up box for any budding thespians.
